I offer in-person and virtual keynotes, workshops, and school visits

I have spoken at hundreds of venues around the world, including in schools and at education and writing conferences. I care deeply about my students and about writing and teaching. I offer inspirational as well as practical keynotes and workshops on writing, teaching writing and Heart Maps®. I am also the founder of The Poet’s Studio where I teach online writing workshops. –Karen Basil, Literacy Coach

“Thank you SO much for your wonderful work with our students this week. They are enjoying it so much and so are we! You are making a huge impact on our students and we are incredibly grateful!”

– Jamie Herold, 3rd grade teacher

“I absolutely loved this seminar. I got so many new ideas and different approaches and even different ways of thinking. I’m very excited to go to class and try many of these ideas with children.”

– Teacher Evaluation After a Full-Day Presentation

“Our son was so inspired by the poetry workshop you are leading with the students this week. Yesterday, as on Monday, he couldn’t wait to share the poem he wrote with us. He announced after the workshop that he intends to write poetry his entire life and that he wants to share poetry with his kids when he is an adult.

–Parent After A Virtual Poetry Workshop with Students

“I’ve never been to a workshop where there were so many tearful, personal moments as well as great classroom suggestions.
